Hey there!Thurs
May 6/99. Okay the van's back on the road. After 3 hours on a
sub-zero Calgary night hunting down wiring problems and a night
in a breakdown lane in Olds,Alberta, we make it to Edmonton. The
gig that we booked at the Rev isn't till tomorrow so we decided
to look around for a place that would let us set up and play.
We ended up at the "Urban Lounge" We played one set
for about 10 people but met the coolest bar staff in Edmonton.
If you're in Edmonton stop in and say "HI" to Christine,
Karen & Scott for us. A special thanks goes out to Scott and
his wife Diana. Not only did they put us up for the night, but
Diana made us breakfast and when we left, made us some Kool-Aid
for the road.
Friday. We have
today off til 6:30 soundcheck so off to West Edmonton Mall. We
were going to go see a movie but instead-ice skating. We heard
that Motorhead were just in town and couldn't help but imagine
being out on the ice with Lemmy, ankleburning our way around the
rink. The Rev is a cool bar with a nice big raised stage. It has
the look of a place that hasn't changed in 20 years or so except
for extra coats of black paint.(this is a good thing) The soundcheck
went well.the monitor mix was great on the stage and we opened
for "Bitter" to about 50 people.Good bunch of guys worth
checking out. We decide to take off before Bitter was finished
playing to beat out the storm that was coming our way.Chris drove
in some pretty serious snow & wind for about 1 1/2 hours before
we escaped. Drove all night & ended up pulling up to Consort
at 5am with no gas and 1 1/2 hrs to wait till they started pumpin'.Chris
& Jai had 10 hrs sleep in 3 days(with all the driving) so
there's no turnin back now!
Finally pulled
into Mantario Sask on Sat. Did some welding on the trailer &
had our 1st real night's sleep in a real house. Thanks to Duane
& Jimmy for their hospitality. Thank God for family! See you
soon!!!
