Jeffery Sez has joined forces with Cordova Bay Records!

Here's the press release...

Victoria, British Columbia, Cordova Bay Entertainment Group is pleased to announce that Victoria based Alt-Rock band Jeffery Sez is joining Cordova Bay Records.

"We feel that Jeffery Sez is a proven rock band that has potential both domestically and internationally," said Cordova Bay Entertainment Group's General Manager Michael Burke. "We look forward to working with this hard driving young band initially here in Canada where their audience is growing and then introducing them internationally starting with the United Kingdom."

Jeffery Sez lead singer Michael Tension reflected, "we have had success doing things on our own. We have toured the country and we have produced and promoted our own records. We recognize the benefits of working with Cordova Bay to expand on those successes and look forward to working with Cordova Bay's Canadian and international teams."

Burke adds, "Jeffery Sez fits nicely within the frame work of Cordova Bay. They are a hard-working seasoned act with international qualities that is not afraid to roll up their collective sleeves to do whatever is necessary to achieve goals."

Cordova Bay will release "15 Smiles to the Gal" a new album CD by the band in conjunction with a radio single and touring. The album will use the same production facilities that have successfully produced fellow Vancouver Islander and label mate David Gogo's "Skeleton Key" CD and two singles - "Personal Jesus" and "(Just Ask) Jesse James".

Check out the Cordova Bay Forum here

In other news, we're a few days away from finishing construction of our new jam space/headquarters. It's looking great and we can't wait to break it in.

9/14/02

-First off, I'd like to apologize to our fans who came out to see us at "Beertoria" last weekend. We were shut down early due to noise issues. i also heard that our music mixed with a crowd of beer drinkers could result in some kind of "aggressive behavior". Uh huh. Well at least we brought a sound system so The Gypsy Kings cd could work as crowd control....

Anyway, here's some pictures that we stole from their site.

-In other news, we are in the middle of moving our jam space across town. We're building a soundproofed room with our own eight hands. This has been keeping us busy lately. We have lots of stuff on the go though, so check back soon for updates.

8/23/02

-We finally have some new video on the video page!

-We're playing FERNFEST tomorrow. The stage will be set up behind the Fernwood Community Centre. We're on around 6:45 but come early 'cause there's lots of great music to check out.

Just got back from New Music West- a big music conference/showcase in Vancouver. This year we played at Extreme 107.3's showcase at the Marine Club. Lots of fun was had and we even managed to pace ourselves enough to get up at the crack of noon to hear Gene Simmons (Jai's childhood hero) talk about the state of the Rock n' Roll Union. Well... ok chicks, his book, money and Rock n' Roll. Mostly money actually. After kicking around for a coupla hours, we hit the bars to check out bands and stuff. Here's a quick summary-

Stepho's has the best Greek (cheap) food ever.

-The Negative Bastard+almonds=puke

-The Constantines fuckin' rock!!!

in summary, don't eat at Stepho's if you are allergic to nuts before you go out to see bands 'cause you might have to hang out in the tour van all sick and alone. poor N.B.!!

03/31/02

Ya know, the problem with having a news page is knowing when to update it. There's always so much stuff that almost happens or could happen that it's hard to seperate fact from slowly gelling semi-reality If you are in a band, or know somebody who is, you probably know what I'm talking about. To illustrate my point, lets dissect the last update posted way back on on January 23rd...

1. We've got a new album. - This is true.

2. It rocks. -Also true.

3. Toronto for two shows in Canadian Music Week. - This was really gonna happen. We were invited. We said yes, and kablooey the gods of Rock n' roll said No Toronto For Us! and we listened.

4. We are nominated for 6 different catagories in The 1st Annual M*POWER Awards (Victoria's Grammys). Yup also true. we even won one (best promotion) and played a song at the awards. It was broadcast on The New VI and although the sound wasn't great, we had a great time and got to see how short the weather man is in person.

5. Joey HiFi does NOT paint his toenails purple and black to get out of work early. Again, not true. Everyone knows you get out of work early when you slam your foot in the 10 tonne press. HiFi's not scared to work the system.

6. Our album isn't out yet. (it rocks tho.) Still true.

Ok. I just wanted to get that out. Let's talk news!

Actually, know what? That about covers it. See ya next time.

01/23/02

Wow, so much has happened. It's just that it's all a BIG SECRET!!!! Bwa Ha Ha!!! Ok, I can tell you this.

1.We've got a new album.

2.It rocks.

3. Toronto for two shows in Canadian Music Week.

4. We are nominated for 6 different categories in The 1st Annual M*POWER Awards (Victoria's Grammys).

5. Joey HiFi does NOT paint his toenails purple and black to get out of work early.

6. Our album isn't out yet. (it rocks tho.)

12/07/01

-Michael Tension just reminded me of some very important updates that I need to post. Here they are,

1. Our new album is almost finished!!!!! We will have the mixing done by this Sunday! Fuck Yeah!!

2. Looks like we are gonna be playing at Canadian Music Week in Toronto this year. We'll see ya in T.O. and keep you posted on details as we find them out ourselves.

3. Happy Birthday to The Negative Bastard!!!!! It's his birthday on Saturday and Jai Joans and Joey Hi-Fi are dragging him into the studio to bug Rick Salt and Michael Tension. We want to get in on some of that party action that's been going on up there at Island Pacific Sound.

12/01/01

-Well, the album is now in post production! We start mixing next week. Rick Salt has outdone himself this time. We're all totally stoked. We're gonna release it in early February 2002. Stayed tuned for more details.

-In other news, we just found out that The Black Halos, our favorite Canadian punk/rock band has broken up. We're really gonna miss these guys but we hope the members will join or form new projects that rock as much as the Halos did. Who knows, maybe we'll get five amazing bands from the death of this one. Best of luck to all of you.

11/07/01

We have a winner for our most recent contest! His (or her) name will be posted as soon as we notify his (or her) next of kin.

New pics from our Hallowe'en show opening for 54-40 are posted. Thanks to everyone who helped us have a great time at the Press Room!

10/20/01

Well, the deadline for our most recent contest has just passed. Thaks to everyone who entered. We're giving the mailman a while to deliver any postmarked last minute entries. A winner will be announced on the contests page very soon

9/6/01

Howdy. I keep neglecting this page. Sorry to all of the "Jefferysez/news.html" fans out there. You must all be as angry as Flicker gets when we post wrong show dates on our dates page! K, I'll catch ya up to speed. We played some shows in Van. and met some cool peoples. Word to the wise- don't eat chicken at the place next to The Brickyard in Vancouver. It's pretty scary. Oh, don't eat the hotdogs either...

-The friends page has some new pics on it. Mostly stuff from Vancouver's shows. See you all again soon.

-Michael is gonna be in the studio finshing up his vocal tracks next week. Just a few finishing touches after that and BAM!!! We'll sell our bodies in trade for boxes and boxes of NEW CDS!!! mmm....boxes...

-Chris has finally received his pectoral implants. We all think the doctor screwed up and he got breast implants, but he assures us that they make him look more manly. The rest of the band remains skeptical.

-Joel has just returned to Victoria after summering in the Hamptons. Robojoel has been crated for another year at UberStorage. Victoria, B.C.'s robotics parts/maintenance headquarters.

Jai's results from the cushion fort contest are finally in. It turns out that the judges all had better things to do and told Jai to "beat it before he got a knuckle sandwich". When asked about how he felt about this outcome, Jai replied "As if I give a care" and crawled back under his craftily folded futon mattress.

07/12/01

Just put some pics up from the Pic show today.

07/09/01

Well, we just got back from our shows in Van. Met and played with two great bands that I'm sure we'll see again. Then, on Saturday, we played at Pearkes arena. Not tons of kids there, but we had a great time. Pom, Negative Bastard sez hi.. anyway....

Put a new show up today.

06/12/01

-New Mp3 up.

-Well, the bed tracks have now been recorded for our next album. The first step has been made!!!! Still lots of work to do , though. We're doing it at Island Pacific Sound in Nanaimo. The same place that we did our last album. Once again, Rick Salt will be manning the controls. (Hi Rick). We'll keep you updated. Phase two will be started next week.

05/31/01

We are playing a warm up gig at The Queens in Nanaimo on Monday June 4th, the first day of our recording session for our new album! Come down and hear the new songs before anyone else!! We just found out about this one, so tell all of your friends.

05/18/01

Well, we survived New Music West. i put up some pics up from our showcase at the Arts Club. The rest of the weekend was amazing. We saw Marilyn Manson speak, the Black Halos do a coupla acoustic (!!) songs, Radiogram, The Weakerthans, The Smugglers, Flash Bastard and Goldfinger. Add on all of the cool people we met and old friends we got to visit with and you've got a seriously full weekend.

Check out some new show dates here.

The postcard page has been cleaned up a bit. I also posted the summer tour of '99 stuff as promised.

The show last weekend @The Cambie was great. Thanks to everyone who made the drive from Vic. and to all the people who were there when we got there and were still drinkin' when we left.

03/25/01

Hi kids! Just some small updates today. A new pic is up. New additions to the Bag Of Death. A few new links. Nuthin' huge.

03/07/01

02/28/01

Still waiting on the webcast info... what can i say? Looks pretty unlikely to happen at this point. If you are really interested, e-mail us and I'll send you a URL if I get one at the last second.

Well, we've got so much goin' on here at JeffSez headquarters. Where do I start? K I'll save some for later. We just spent the last 6 days in a secret warehouse with an eight track,

02/13/01

Looks like we'll be doing a live web broadcast on Sat. March 3rd. More info to follow as soon as we find out ourselves.

02/09/01

Little bit of an update for ya. Check out the Bag Of Death page! Messed around with the links too.

01/26/01

Well, it's 4 am after our show tonight. As you (should) know, we just played at Thursday's with five other great local bands. The place was totally packed and they had to turn people away at the door!! I don't know why, but at the last minute the bar decided to up the cover from $4 to $6. I'm sure there was some kind of misunderstanding, 'cause the guys at Thursdays are usually a bunch o' straight-shootin' muthas. (and sex machines with all the chicks too!). Big shout out to Brendan and the boys/girls of Thundersauce/Big Muff for all the work they put in. Spell our name right next time, tho, K? : )

01/03/01

"I'm the boss. Here's the champagne. Merry Christmas!!" What's that from? First person that gets it wins. e-mail us at contest@jefferysez.com Anyway, just put up a new show date. Write it on yer hand and trace over it with a big fat marker if you have a shower before Jan. 25th. Thank you. Come again.

12/02/00

Wow. Looks like I've been neglecting this page, huh? K, let's catch up. The mini tour to the mainland was lots of fun. We just went out for five days, which is just long enough to develop smoker's cough in non-smokers! hanging out in a hotboxed van is cheaper than buying your own smokes...

Joel has also aquired a "big ass" Marshall cabinet. This means that we are an Arena Rock band by default. We just can't fit all our stuff on a bar stage anymore! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!...uh.. anyway...

We had a great time at the bear Pub opening for Thundersauce. We'll do it again soon.

10/04/00

Some new show dates posted today. Michael just bought a big-ass Marshall amp (JCM 2000!), so come out and see us live and kneel before it's power!!

09/03/00

Hey, remember when we posted an announcement about touring Northern B.C? (if not, see below). Well, looks like we were wrong. We're just gonna hang out here and squeeze the last out of the nice weather out of the west coast and actually play some shows in Victoria for a change. How does that sound? oh, also wanted to say that Joel, our new guitarist is working out great and will be playing his second show with us at the Queens (see dates page.

09/03/00

Looks like the northern B.C. tour is a go! Two weeks out starting in late Sept. Keep checking the dates page for show updates.

08/11/00

Well, a last minute show is posted on the dates page. I finally finished putting up pics from the tour on the journal pages. Noticed that we deleted Fernie by accident. I'll put something up soon 'cause there's lots of pics from there....

08/04/00

Ok, we're back! Lots of stuff on the journal pages to read if you care. We'll be sticking around for a while then back out to uncharted territory- Northern B.C. look out!! hope to hit the ski hills this winter too! Until then, we'll see ya in Vic. Hey, buy yer favourite Jeffery Sez member a beer. They're all broke. See you at the Jerry Jerry and The Sons Of Rhythm Orchestra Show tomorrow. And don't forget about that beer : )

06/28/00

Well, it's the day before we leave and it's all (mostly) in place. We plan to update the road stories page as much as we can, so keep posted. Also want to introduce our interim web king, Matt. If there's any web-type problems, he's your man. We will still get our e-mail, tho so feel free to send us the usual stuff. The guestbook is lonely, by the way... Looking forward to seeing the friends we made last tour. See you soon!

06/14/00

Check out the Dates page. Our tour is finally coming together! These are the first show announcements!

06/13/00

Just put up some pics of Jai at the Brickyard last Friday. Weren't there? Too bad. Chris bought a slice for everyone who sung along and this time the Bag Of Death had a real human head in it! Joy!

06/07/00

Well, you may have guessed that we haven't left on tour yet. Looks like we'll be doing a western Canada thing starting on July 1st-ish. Got a last minute show at the Brickyard to kill some time.

Put some new pix up of us at Seacoast Sound during "The Rocktoria Sessions" (heh heh)

05/23/00

Still waiting to get our final tour dates. We're supposed to be leaving on May 29th, so check the dates page often for new info.

05/13/00

Well, we just finished a busy weekend. Three shows in four days. New Music West was great. We played at the Arts Cub Backstage Lounge on the first night (w/ Splitting Adam, Brundlefly and Retrograde), and Pemberton Station in North Van. (w/Six Block Radius and Star Collector) on Saturday. Special thanks to Alex, Kate, Nelson and the rest of the crew for lending us their couches (and shower!!) on Friday night.

After a fun-filled night at the ferry terminal, we were back to Victoria for an opening slot for j. englishman. We bribed Junior the drummer into wearing our t-shirt for their set...

04/25/00

Cleaned up the site a bit and added a bit o' content. Oh, check out our new t-shirt on the Stuff That We Sell page

04/24/00

Well, we finished our week in the studio with Rick and we had a great time! Of course by the end, there's always pressure to get things wrapped up on time. Over all though, we're happy with how things turned out. Jai took a bunch of pictures that we're gonna post as soon as he gets 'em developed.

04/20/00

Thanks to everyone who came out to our show at the Brickyard on April 7th!!! We had a booking agent checking us out that night and it looks like we're hitting the road again this spring/summer.

04/10/00

We've got a new touring machine! It's just like the one in Hard Core Logo, the greatest movie ever made about Rock n' Roll- and it's Canadian! Check it out if you haven't.... Lot's of work to do on it (the van, that is), but damn is it cool!

Well, I guess by now most of you know that we will be on Rocktoria 2000 this year. For those of you that didn't, well... we are. Rocktoria is a yearly project put on by 100.3 The Q, Vancouver Island's biggest radio station. Each album features four local bands. This year it's us, Naked Ear, Cara McCandless, and Taxi. We are going into the studio to record 3 new songs on April 10th-14th with Rick Erickson. The album will be released on June 30th so start saving now!! Why not drop by the Q's website and thank them for picking us : )
